Hawaii Bound

Dreampoint by Chongolio

Well the word is out, some of my close friends, family along with a few of the folks who made it to the Forbidden Island Sale-a-bration are already in the know. I am making the move to Hawaii in March 07. That is when my current lease in Scotts Valley will be up and the time to make the jump. I have been waiting and waiting for everything in my life to be in cosmic synchronicity but have come to the conclusion that may never happen. So since I don't have a girlfriend, wife, kids, pets, house or car payment I decided now is the time to fulfill my life long dream of living in and exploring the South Pacific. What I do have is a small debt that I hope to get under control over the next 6 months. I have for the most part shut down my graphic design studio and have taken a job working with a company called Blue Monitor as a Project Manager. I will continue to do graphic design work on the side but will be very particular about the side jobs I take on. Basically only the ones that pay. I will also keep on the artistic tip and keep crankin' out art to sell to help get me on my way

I am not sure how everything will work out as far as housing and a job, I am not even sure of which Island I will end up on. I do have preferred locations in mind, Kauai, The Big Island or Maui in that order, and would like to work in some kind capacity as artist/ graphic designer, but understand that I may have to work my way into it and that it may take some time. My plan is simple, throw out the net and see what I can pull in before I get out there. I would like to make the hop and have some kind of job lined up and dialed in with at least a couch to crash on when I hit the ground. In the mean time I will be selling off everything that has no meaning or sentimental value. I am still deciding on shipping my van out there. At this point it looks like the best idea because I can easily live out of it if I have too.

So keep checking back to read more about one monkey boy's adventures encountered when relocating to Hawaii. You also are invited to add your two coconuts and if you got a tip or a lead lay it on me!.

Hooptylau 2006

Artwork by Chongolio

Hooptylau has come and gone. What a great time we had roamin' the soon to be destroyed streets of Pollardville, eatin' chicken and drinkin' at the central Valley''s most unique waterin' holes. Tikicleen and the Drunken Hat, owners of the Dark Marq Room, are most gregarious and the perfect hosts. Jungle Trader and his Ohana are just as kind and gracious for opening up their homes to us blurry eyed and trail weary travelers . Thanks to everybody who made it to this year's Hooptylau making it another rootin' tootin' success. Below are a few of my pics. More can be seen at Tiki Central.

The Tiki Invasion at Mission Tiki

Well I had a great time on my road trip to The Tiki Invasion. It turned out to be a scorchin' day but the bands were hotter, the drinks were cool and all the people who came from near and far really looked to be enjoying themselves. Big thanks to Teri and David and all the fine folks involved with putting together a heck of a party to help celebrate 50 years of Drive-in movie goodness at The Mission Tiki Drive-In. Here are a few of my pics with a few of the Ghastly Ones taken by Big Tiki Dude:

San Francisco Tiki Crawl 2006 Photos

Here are all my pics from the San Francisco Tiki Crawl 2006. What a great time!! Hanford and Humuhumu did a fantastic job of keeping the show runnin' smooth and making sure everybody was enjoying themselves. It was great to meet up with some of the old friends and meet some new ones. Unfortunately, the timw went by to fast and I was unable to talk with everybody. Well there is always next year!! (To see all the pics, be sure to let the slide player cycle through the pics a few times.)

Coconut Wired adventure 6

Episode 6 is now waiting to be download and served up sizzlin'. Episode 6 features the fantastic art of Ken "Lil Lost Tiki" Ruzic. But that didn't stop us from steppin' up and bringing you some tasty tunes from The Langhorns, The Southern Beach Terror, The Ghastly Ones, The Surfites, The Reckless Reefers, and a song from Clouseaux's NEW CD Beyond Good and Evil . Click on over to Coconutwired.com to give the show a look and listen. Tiki Farm Coloring Book

Tiki Farm has put up a link to a neat coloring book type of drawing for you to color in when the boss isn't looking. This is part of a series offered by Tiki Farm featuring the art of Ken Ruzic. The actual picture kits are going to come with pens for coloring and the art will be poster sized. (I cheated and did mine in photoshop.) These things are a great way to keep boredom at bay when the surf is flat. Get yours HERE.
